Whilst the domestic market continues to be the key market for UK manufacturers, demand from international consumers for quality British produce has created a lucrative export market which now accounts for around a quarter of the total market. Although the European Union is a key importer of UK food and drink and this market has seen consistent growth, this has been outstripped by growth from outside of the EU. There is therefore the opportunity to offset any adverse impact from Brexit through refocusing efforts on non-EU export markets.
